Why not slow down and invest some of yourself in what you do? You'll find it tastes much better!

Let's talk authenticity... Let's talk about what really matters in this world. All too often in our society we find ourselves too busy to take time for the things that really matter. We constantly look for the quickest way to do what we need to do so we can move on to "more important" things. Do we ever slow down and realize what we are in essence doing to ourselves? We are selling ourselves short... Sure, we are experiencing more, but are we living each of those experiences to their fullest? Let's take an example.... Refried Beans.

You've just had a busy day running yourself ragged and yet you can't think of a single thing you've completed to your satisfaction... Then you rush by the grocery store and grab a can of refried beans for dinner... Do you think that having dinner ready to be choked down any faster will make you feel any better? Does any part of you believe that sitting down to a canned dinner is the way to settle down after a stressful day? Hmmm... So why not invest some time and a little work into the one thing in your day that will be with you longer than you may realize.

They say, "You are what you eat." Do you want to be that factory processed can of refried beans? Do you want to become the epitome what is wrong with our society? Think of the alternative....

You come home after a long day of stressful work to a large bucket of pinto beans... You carefully sort out only the beans that you want in your dish. You rinse them and place them in boiling water for about three hours while you relax and read that book you've been trying to find time for, mending that shirt that's beginning to fray, or reflecting on your life... After three hours of near meditation, you have fully cooked pinto beans ready to be made into refried beans. You heat up a frying pan and place some beans inside along with a little butter or Crisco. The beans slowly cook as you mash them and add cheddar, monterey jack, time and your effort. When they're done, you've got a dish that you can be proud of... Something that you've seen through from start 'til finish... and the best part... There's enough for the whole week!
